Aims and Scope

Aims:
Indonesian Journal of Medicine (IJM) is an international, open-access, and double-blind peer-reviewed journal. The journal began its publication on August 20, 2015, and was published online three times yearly. Due to the increasing demand for paper publication, beginning in 2019 the journal publishes quarterly (January, April, July, and October).

Scope:
IJM provides a platform for health and medical researchers to publish high-quality medical research evidence from both developed and developing countries. It primarily publishes original research papers but also welcomes papers on systematic review/meta-analysis and case report.

Indonesian Journal of Medicine (IJM) focusing on the publication of research evidence in the areas of biomedical science, clinical medicine, and community medicine.
The scope of IJM is broad and interdisciplinary, encompassing, but not limited to, the following areas:
1. Biomedical Sciences: Biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, cell biology, physiology, pathology, and other related biological disciplines.
2. Clinical Medicine and Medical Specialties: Internal medicine, surgery, neurology, nephrology, and other clinical specialties.
3. Rehabilitation and Allied Health Sciences: Physiotherapy, rehabilitation medicine, physical function, disability studies, and other related healthcare disciplines.
4. Pharmacology and Therapeutics: Clinical pharmacology, drug development, pharmacological interventions, medication safety, and therapeutic evaluation.
5. Medical Technology and Biomedical Engineering: Medical devices, biomedical engineering, diagnostic technologies, digital health, and other innovations in healthcare.
6. Complementary and Integrative Medicine: Complementary and traditional medicine, acupuncture, herbal medicine, and evidence-based integrative therapeutic approaches.
7. Infectious Diseases and Emerging Health Threats: Disease outbreaks, emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, vaccine development and evaluation, immunization, and infectious disease prevention and control.
8. Translational and Interdisciplinary Medical Research: Research integrating laboratory findings, clinical applications, population health evidence, and technological innovations to improve health outcomes.

IJM encourages methodologically rigorous and ethically conducted research with clear scientific contributions and relevance to healthcare practice, public health, or biomedical advancement. The journal welcomes interdisciplinary studies that bridge basic biomedical research, clinical investigation, and community-based approaches to address current and emerging health challenges.

The journal considers submissions from diverse medical and health-related disciplines, provided that they demonstrate scientific validity, methodological rigor, and relevance to the journal's aims and scope. IJM recognizes the under-representation of medical issues impacting populations in the developing world in international journals. Therefore, the editors encourage authors from developing countries to submit and publish their research work in this journal. All papers published in IJM are freely available as downloadable PDF files.
